How ranking works

Outbid is a public leaderboard. No ads, no API keys, no revenue share. You pay to stand above everybody else, and the bid is the only thing that decides where you stand.

Bids and ranks

Bids are whole US dollars. A new listing starts at $5, stops at $10,000, and moves $1 at a time.

A listing already on the board keeps its amount until whoever placed it raises, or somebody else pays past it.

Taking the top spot costs at least $5 more than the current highest bid. Paying less than that is perfectly fine, it just puts you wherever that amount reaches.

Equal bids keep the order they were placed in. The older bid holds the higher rank.

Enter an address that is already on the board to raise it. The new total has to be at least $1 above what the listing stands at, and you pay only the difference. Nobody else can take that rank by paying the same difference, because any other address has to reach the number outright.

App Store, Play Store, GitHub and similar platform links are keyed by their path, so two apps on one platform never share a bid. Tracking parameters are ignored when we work out which listing you mean.

What you can list

A product website. Anything a visitor can open and understand, however small or unfinished.

Chat and invite links are not allowed. Telegram, WhatsApp, Discord, Messenger, Signal and the rest belong to group chats, and this board is for products.

Links to sexual content are not allowed. Porn, NSFW material and adult platforms stay off the board.

Parked domains, expired domains, holding pages and dead links are not allowed either. If there is nothing to look at, there is nothing to rank.

Query parameters are stripped from every listing. Affiliate, referral and tracking URLs will not survive.

Short links are not allowed on their own. Submit one and it is replaced by the address it points at.

Before you pay

Every submission is read by our AI before a checkout opens. It looks at the page, decides whether it belongs here, then writes the product name and the one line description that will sit on the board. You pick the category yourself. Nothing is charged if the answer is no, and the reason is shown to you.

The first bid on an address writes its card. After that the wording and the category stay put, so a rival cannot pay a dollar for the right to rewrite what your listing says. If your card is wrong, email [email protected] and we will change it.

After you pay

Your listing goes public as soon as the payment clears. A completed payment is what claims a rank, not a submitted form.

Clicks go to the address you submitted, with your own query parameters removed and ?ref=awesomeindie.com added, so the traffic shows up in your own analytics.

Every card links out as nofollow and sponsored, because that is exactly what a paid placement is. We count the clicks each listing sends and show the number on its card.

A refund rolls a listing back by exactly what that payment had added to it. If the total reaches zero, the listing comes off the board. The Refund Policy has the rest.

Getting something removed

Anybody can list any address, including one they do not own. If something is on the board that should not be, email [email protected] and we will take it down.
